FULLN CHEMICAL Ceramic glaze pigment V-YELLOW FU-3212 (Vanadium zirconium yellow) a yellow inorganic pigments composed of vanadium pentoxide, zirconium dioxide and other raw materials through mixing, firing, micro powder and water treatment.It is a high temperature calcined product. In the process of high temperature calcination, V (4+) gets into the ZrO2 baddeleyite crystals forms a crystalline structure of oblique zircon. The composition may contain one or more group of SiO2, TiO2, Fe2O3, Al2O3 and Y2O3. It is suitable in oxidizing atmosphere firing and suitable for various glazes.

It is mainly used for high temperature and medium temperature glazes. It can also be used for underglaze decorations and color mixing. It's suitable for oxidizing atmosphere. In reducing atmosphere the color becomes lighter. It's good adaptability to glazes.

When making vanadium and zirconium yellow, industrial zirconium dioxide is commonly used as the parent material, vanadium pentoxide or ammonium metavanadate as the colorant. Some formulations contain titanium oxide, yttrium oxide, or ferric oxide as coloring AIDS. There are formulas containing sodium fluoride or borax and other mineralizing agent raw materials.

The production of vanadium and zirconium yellow generally use dry mixing method, and the materials are fully mixed into refractory sagger, which is calcined in the oxidizing atmosphere. After calcination, the materials are wet-grinded, dehydrated, dried, pulverized, sifted and matched color.

What is the introduction of Zr-V yellow pigment?

A wide range of components in the Zr-V-Si oxide system is described in the original patent of Spitz.With the decreasing of SiO2, the tone of the pigment changes from blue to green to grass yellow.When the content of SiO2 is reduced to zero, vanadium zirconium yellow color is formed.It is the first commercially available zircon (ZrO2) based pigment.Its typical composition is: ZrO2 95%, V2O5 5%.Its tone can be changed by adding a small amount of Al2O3, TiO2, SiO2 or H3BO3.The study of the system colorant shows that the optimal content of V2O5 in pigment is 5%, and the optimal synthesis temperature of pigment is 1250℃.The higher the synthesis temperature (up to at least 1500℃), the stronger the color will be.

The ZrO2-V203 yellow color is a kind of Mordant, unlike the zirconite color (e.g., vanadium zirconium blue) which is the final crystalline phase.Vanadium adsorbs on the surface of the original ZrO2 crystal, forming a yellow color. And the corresponding ZrO2 crystal must be monoclinic type.A fully stable ZrO2(FSZ) cannot be used as a matrix.
