Components of Glass Pigments

What is the Composition of Glass Pigments?

Inorganic Composition: Glass pigments are typically composed of inorganic materials, such as metal oxides or metallic salts. These compounds are chosen for their ability to withstand high temperatures during glass manufacturing.

Homogeneous Distribution

Homogeneous Distribution: During the glass melting process, the pigment particles are uniformly distributed throughout the glass matrix. This homogeneous distribution ensures consistent coloration without clumping or uneven coloring.

High-Temperature Stability

High-Temperature Stability: Glass pigments are formulated to withstand the high temperatures involved in glass manufacturing processes, such as melting and shaping. This stability ensures that the color remains vibrant and does not degrade during production.

Product Parameters

The particle size of glass pigment is D100≦5µm and mositure is ≦0.3%. This series of products have super fine particle size distribution, good dispersion and good covering. It can provide full color options for glass decoration. The glass pigments need to be used with the frit powder, whose fineness is less than 1250 mesh. The ratio of the pigment to the frit powder is (1~3)/(7~9). The pattern is printed on the glass surface through screen printing.

FAQ

Q: What are the characteristics of inorganic pigments?

A: 1.Chemical Stability 2.Colorfastness 3.Heat Stability 4.Good covering power 5.No infiltration and migration

Q: What is an inorganic pigment?

A: An inorganic pigment is a type of pigment that is derived from inorganic compounds, typically minerals. Unlike organic pigments, which contain carbon-hydrogen bonds, inorganic pigments do not contain carbon in their molecular structure. These pigments are widely used to impart color to a variety of materials, including paints, plastics, ceramics, inks, and construction materials.

Q: How do inorganic pigment get their color?

A: The color of inorganic pigments is derived from the interaction of light with the electronic structure of the atoms or ions within the pigment's chemical composition. The coloration process varies depending on the specific type of inorganic pigment.

Q: What is the difference between pigments used in exterior wall paint and interior wall paint?

A: Exterior wall coatings are the same as all outdoor coatings such as mechanical coatings, automobile coatings, aircraft coatings, ship coatings, etc. The pigments used in interior wall coatings are different. In the face of climate change, wind and sun, and the influence of other natural environments, The performance requirements for pigments are relatively high. It is best to maintain color, be durable, have pure color, and not migrate or bleed. Therefore, the selected pigments are required to be resistant to acid and alkali, light, weather, UV, high temperature, chemical corrosion, etc.

Q: What is the hiding power of pigments?

A: The hiding power of pigments, also known as opacity or covering power, refers to the ability of a pigment or paint to conceal or hide the underlying surface. In simple terms, it measures how well a paint can cover a previously painted or unpainted surface. The hiding power is particularly important in achieving a uniform and aesthetically pleasing finish. Hiding power is a crucial consideration when choosing paints, especially for applications where complete coverage is essential, such as when covering a dark or contrasting color with a lighter one. Paints with high hiding power are often preferred for better coverage in fewer coats, saving time and material.

Q: What’s your shipping service?

A: We can arrange Ocean and Airline Shipping. Sample will be delivered by express like FedEx etc. LCL and FCL can be arranged with one-stop service.

Q: What is your MOQ?

A: 500g sample order and Bigger.

Q: What factors are related to the heat resistance of pigments?

A: The heat resistance of pigments is mainly related to the chemical structure and crystal form, as well as factors such as particle size and pigment surface treatment. In addition, the heat resistance of many pigments decreases after dilution.

Q: How can I get the sample and how long will it take?

A: For small quantity sample, it is free, we often use international express delivery and will deliver it at the agreed time.

Q: Do you have quality control system?

A: We do have quality control system for each step of process controlling and we have the system from raw material to finished products. We have ISO certificate.
