It is also a synthetic colored mineral with spinel as the carrier. It's mainly used for tile body coloring and color glaze decoration.

The production process of brown material is generally dry mixing.

 

Fe-Cr is a high-temperature inorganic ceramic body stain based on iron-chromium composite oxide color system. Through the synergistic effect of iron (Fe) and chromium (Cr) ions, it produces stable Brownish-Red, brown to dark brown tones under oxidation atmosphere firing. Specially designed for ceramic body coloring, this product features natural subdued color, excellent high-temperature stability, and strong bonding with ceramic body materials. It is widely used for body coloring in architectural ceramics, tableware, and artistic ceramics.

Color Development Mechanism

Fe³⁺ and Cr³⁺ ions form composite oxide solid solutions in spinel-type (FeCr₂O₄) or corundum-type ((Fe,Cr)₂O₃) crystal structures. The d-d electron transitions and inter-ionic charge transfer effects of the two transition metal ions generate characteristic brownish-red absorption spectra. Through precise control of the Fe/Cr ratio, rich color variations from warm brownish-red, natural brown to deep dark brown can be achieved to meet diverse ceramic decoration requirements.
