What are pink series in Ceramic pigments?
Pink/Maroon Series:
The maximum firing temperature of (Sn-Cr-Ca-Si)is 1280℃.
1. This type of color is suitable for lime glaze and tin opacified glaze. The color is darker and brighter in this glaze.
2.When the content of MgO exceeds 2%, the color of the product becomes lighter.
3. This series of pigment is suitable for glazes with lead calcium frits containing a small amount of boron.
4. If the glaze contains ZnO, it will make the color from yellowish brown to colorless.
5. The content of Al203 in the glaze should be as low as possible.
6. it’s suitable to use of oxidizing atmosphere for firing (avoid using reducing atmosphere).
Manganese red pigment Series:
The maximum operating temperature of (Mn-Al) pigment is 1280℃.
1. It is suitable for feldspar glaze without zinc. Zinc makes its color lighter.
2. PbO and MgO in the glaze are beneficial to color and can deepen the color.
3. BaO<2% in glaze. Otherwise, it is not good for color.
The main mineral composition of maroon is sphene. The higher the content of sphene in the reagent, the better the color.Maroon glaze must be fired in an oxidizing atmosphere. The main chemical valence of chromium in maroon is Cr4+.The chromating mechanism is due to the displacement of Sn4+ in the sphene lattice by chromium doping Cr4+, which deform the octahedron [SnO6].As a result, the colorant forms a wide absorption band around 520nm of visible light reflection spectrum, making the glaze appear agate red.
